We usually put a booster seat in our checked luggage, but this time, we’re taking carry-ons only. But I did NOT want to carry our child’s booster seat in my hand all the way through the airports.
Solution:
Booster seat shoulder strap
You only need 3 items (or maybe fewer) to add a Shoulder strap to your booster seat, which will allow you to carry it hands free just like you’d do with a purse or a laptop bag.
- ➡️ Shoulder strap: This Klein Tools shoulder strap is padded and super comfortable, durable, and has easy-to-use clasps. And the best part: It’s only $15.99! And it’s black, making it nearly universal for color matching. Get it on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4lzSwRA
- ➡️ (2) Hooks/carabiners: If the clasps on the strap are too thick to connect directly onto the booster seat, you can adapt and use these S-biners from Nite Ize: https://amzn.to/4nxpW5f
That’s it! You can now carry your kid’s booster seat hands-free as you move through the airport. Car seat shoulder strap… Game changer!
And as a nice bonus, since you can remove the strap, you can use it on something else when not flying. I actually bought mine for a camera bag that did not have a strap, so it stays on that bag unless traveling with booster seat.
Important safety note
Always follow relevant laws and the seat manufacturer’s guidelines for installing and using a car seat of any kind. NEVER leave any items – straps, hooks, carabiners, or anything else – around or attached to the seat while the seat is in use. Straps of any kind are a strangulation hazard. Objects in your car can turn into a projectile in the event of a sudden stop or a crash.
